Toss me a cigarette I think there’s one in the raincoat
We smoked the last one an hour ago
So I looked at the scenery, she read her magazine
And the moon rose over an open field

There’s only one direction in the faces that I see

It’s upward to the ceiling, where the chambers said to be

Like the forest fights for sunlight

That takes root in every tree

They are pulled up by the magnet, believing they’re free

If you’re concerned about “journalistic integrity”, why don’t you go after the journalist Zoe Quinn allegedly slept with, instead of just her? And why don’t you go after other journalists who are allegedly lying to consumers about products that cost actual money, if instances of that kind of thing exist? Or are you afraid to be told that reviews of games or anything aren’t totally “objective evaluations” and that anyone who cares enough about what they read should go to another source for a second opinion? Everything about this is taken way out of proportion, based on the supposition that things happened which didn’t actually happen, and is transparently about excluding women from “gaming” yet again. There’s no case for gamergate

The most insane thing about the whole gamergate controversy is that its lynchpin, the allegations of Zoe Quinn trying to sleep her way to the top, are (1)totally unfounded, (2)sounds exactly like something an enraged ex-boyfriend would say to smear her (I mean come on, have none of you ever dealt with rumors before in your life?), and (3)isn’t at all significant with respect to the industry at large; like, this is small shit. This is like if an angry parent alleged that the winner of the spelling bee at their child’s school had cheated, and not only did people believe them in spite of a lack of any evidence to support their claim, but it turned into a huge nationwide debate about integrity in the English language & linguistics, in which the most passionately involved are also the least credible, and all of the nation’s teachers & editors & linguistics scholars stood by laughing at them
